Why Coffee Shop Baristas Act So Snoooby
Interesting little interview with Ken Nye of Ninth Street Espresso, on why some baristas just make you want to punch them in the face. I didn’t realize a) coffee is actually WAY more expensive than booze, etc. to transport and produce, and b) espresso, in particular, is very temperamental to the environment in which it’s made and distributed. All the snooobiness, he says, relates back to customer service and wanting to produce the best-tasting coffee possible. I’m still suspect, but on the other hand, I sort of understand. If I got to play with beans all day, make concoctions and perfect my “froth”, well, I’d be pretty annoying too.
