When (my) Worlds Collide: Chinese Food and Advertising

J&R Music World has new print brochure-like ads that look exactly like Chinese food delivery menus. Rather than General Tso’s chicken, the menu lists (I’m guessing, it’s hard to see) J&R’s vast inventory. I have heart for this first and foremost because the ad agency Toy produced it, which is run by a mentor of mine, Anne Bologna. So cool, so smart. And she named her agency Toy, because good ads can elicit the same joy and delight as a new toy might. Love that. Anyway, it’s just clever - the medium is the message - we have a lot of stuff, like Chinese menus have a lot of stuff. Unlike most people, I don’t immediately discard menus that get slipped under my door - I always take a peek at where they’re located, and what desserts they have. Sometimes you can find some interesting things! I also get a kick out of some of the menu item names I come across - orange chicken or super sexy Friday night roll or whatever.
Anyway, I love this. My only question is - how’s it being distributed? I really, really hope I find one under my door tonight. Does anyone know? If you get one, I’d love to see it and order something same-day delivery.
