Saggy Boobs and Called Her a Ho

So, this is juicy. Apparently, Anne Burell, former chef of Centro Vinoteca (where I ate last weekend with mi familia) is being sued for discrimination. I guess she said some nasty stuff while she was the head of the kitchen:

“The allegations laid out in the complaint are outlined in Centro’s motion to dismiss, which has been denied by a judge. One of the plaintiffs, Susan Kendall Bradford, was mocked by Burrell for her “slutty” attire (even though she was wearing a uniform) and her prominent cleavage. Burrell also allegedly mocked another bartender for having “saggy boobs” and called her a “ho,” and had a trainee fired because she was a woman. Another defendant, Jennifer Sue Lim, alleges that she was called a “whore” and was fired for fabricated reasons (stealing cheese and a shot of tequila, and giving away too many freebies). And a third defendant, Sara Hennigan, a manager who was allegedly fired for sympathizing with Lim and Bradford, says she was accused of faking an ovarian cyst when she was out sick.”

FAKING an ovarian cyst? How do you even do that? Walk around bent over or something? Amazing. What a bully. Um, besides the mean girls activity going on in the kitchen, the food at Centro is amazing. I had a butternut squash ravioli that was super rich but incredible - the ravioli just melted in my mouth like a fall-flavored cloud. My brother had the night’s pasta special, which was little purse-shaped pasta filled with a chestnut puree - less sweet but equally decadent. I recommend it if you’re looking for something in the area - the menu feels a lot like Scarpetta’s but the space is much cozier and more romantic. A solid date or family choice.
